1 dead, 3 injured after “serious” multi-car crash near Northeast Lombard Street

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) – Emergency officials are advising people to avoid a fatal three-car crash Thursday evening in Northeast Portland, authorities said.

“Crew members at the scene of a serious multi-vehicle collision on NE 15th/NE Lombard please avoid the area,” Portland Fire and Rescue said in a post on X at 6:13 p.m

A few minutes later, PF&R posted another update saying one person had died and three others had been taken to the hospital.

In another update, PF&R clarified that two of the people hospitalized had “potentially life-threatening injuries.” A third patient “was able to walk but was transported to a hospital for evaluation.”

The Portland Police Bureau said in a news release that officers responded to reports of an accident just after 6 p.m. When police arrived, they found a woman who was in one of the three vehicles involved in the accident dead at the scene.

PPB said Northeast Lombard Street is closed between Northeast 11th Avenue and Northeast 15th Avenue during the investigation.

Anyone with information about the accident is asked to contact Portland police.
