,000 reward offered for information in Kevin Hinesman’s murder

HARRISON TWP., Ohio (WDTN) – More than nine years ago, a man was shot and killed in Harrison Township, but his killer was never caught.

On October 30, 2015, Montgomery County Sheriff’s deputies received a call about a shooting at an apartment complex at 3840 Briar Place near West Nottingham Road. They found 30-year-old Kevin Hinesman fatally shot in the hallway of the complex.

“When we talked to the neighbors, all they heard was one gunshot and they heard some people running out the door,” Sergeant said. Isaiah Kellar of the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office. “Through our investigation, we were able to determine that it was a black truck that was parked on the roadway here and that an unknown suspect ran away immediately after the shots were fired, got into the truck and left the area.”

Kevin’s mother, Renee West, is still looking for closure.

“But we still want justice to be done. We really want justice, just some kind of closure to know why, why this happened. We’ve been dealing with this for so long and I think it’s time for us to have some answers,” says Renee.

Miami Valley Crime Stoppers is offering a $10,000 reward for information leading to an arrest.

“This was a despicable act for no reason. And this man lost his life,” said Sgt. Kellar.

“If you know anything, please let us know. Tell someone immediately. Three years ago, before Kevin’s death, his sister died. She was very ill and died quickly. Three years later, I had to deal with Kevin being shot. So it was a burden for me. These are my only two children. They’re not here anymore. And it put a lot of stress on me,” Renee tears up.
