18-year-old sentenced to life in prison for murder of 13-year-old Beaverton girl

BEAVERTON Ore. (KPTV) – An 18-year-old man was found guilty on November 22 of murdering a 13-year-old girl in 2022.

On Monday he was sentenced to life in prison with the possibility of parole after 38 years and four months. He will begin his sentence at the MacLaren Youth Correctional Facility. He was sentenced to life imprisonment for murder and eight years and four months for rape.

Gore was also ordered to pay $55,075 in restitution to Li’s family.

Daniel Gore was found guilty of first-degree murder, first-degree rape and first-degree sexual abuse after a two-week trial.

On May 10, 2022, 13-year-old Milana Li was found dead in a small stream in Westside Linear Park after being reported missing by her mother the day before.

News of Li’s disappearance spread after her mother reported her missing, and her friends and mother went to look for her in a forested area where she was known to hang out and found her clothes and shoes there.

Police searched the area and found Li’s body half submerged in a stream under a heavy blanket. Packing tape tied to the ceiling was found in Gore’s tent near Progress Ridge. DNA also linked evidence found inside the victim to Gore.

Gore was identified as a person of interest and ran away when police tried to talk to him two days after Li’s body was found in the Beaverton library.

He was found and arrested shortly after fleeing from police.

Police learned that after the murder, Gore called his then-girlfriend and told her that something bad had happened but that he had “taken care of it.”

The Washington County District Attorney’s Office (WCDAO) confirmed in a press release after the trial that Li was raped and murdered by Gore.

Assistant District Attorney Pulver reportedly told jurors that Gore “was a wolf in sheep’s clothing when he lured Milana into a false sense of security before brutally raping and killing her in a wooded area of ​​Beaverton near the defendant’s home.” Tent.”

Prosecutors used surveillance footage and cell phone tracking data to prove that Li was last seen alive with the defendant around 7:45 p.m. on the evening of her murder.

Gore was arrested on May 20, 2022.

Gore, who was 16 at the time of the murder, was tried as an adult after a Washington County judge ruled that Gore was mature enough to understand the crime he was accused of.
