Original story below…

A father and mother died after a murder-suicide in a neighborhood near Highway 51 and 111th Street on Sunday, according to Coweta police.

According to police, her three children came home from church and were dropped off by their grandfather. They say the children found their parents dead in their bathroom around 3:09 p.m. and texted their aunt, who police say called 911.

The neighbors said this was a quiet family and their children were constantly playing outside. They said this incident was shocking and tragic because nothing like this had ever happened in this neighborhood.

Coweta Police Chief Mike Bell encourages the community to look out for their neighbors.

“If you know a neighbor who needs help, we ask that you speak to them. If you don’t know what to do, call him on 988. That’s a good number for him,” Chief Bell said.

Chief Bell says two of the children are under 10 years old. According to police, the children are being placed with family members.

CPD reported that the Muscogee Lighthorse took over this investigation after it was determined that both of the deceased were tribal members.

The parents’ names have not been revealed.
