2025 NBA design: 6 sleepers to watch in the sweet 16

Many of the NBA scouts with which I chat do not spend too much time to be obsessed with lottery perspectives. What you are interested in are the meat of the design, the prospects of the late first and second round, which do not make headlines, but are finally important participants. Who underestimated on the head? Who can play immediately? Who has lost themselves in the shuffle? Here are six sleepers that you will see in the sweet 16 who could have long NBA futures:

Fland was the 17th high school view before he committed himself in Arkansas, and now in the second round he classified most analysts, including me, in the second round. He is only 6-foot-2, missed several months due to thumb operations and Arkansas was not so great this season in John Calipari’s first season as head coach.

But now the razor chiefs are located in the sweet 16 with Boogie back on the floor. None of Fland’s two games when he returned from an injury was as productive as a scorer: he only made four of his 15 shots. But you also see the flashes:

Fland is a slate firing creator that can get into the teeth of the defense. Usually he wants to come by. But Arkansas may need Fland to be the scorer that Calipari has as an opportunity to store Texas Tech, who took fifth place in Kenpom’s offensive rating. Fland makes 47.6% of its fishing and shooting 3S as a newcomer, and he can catch the dribble of fire. His blanket as a bucket-getter is much higher than anyone else on the roster.

In the last episode of my podcast, my former co-moderator Chris Vernon said that Fland was too underestimated. Sweet 16 will be an opportunity to correct Verno.

You will recognize Tugler as soon as you turn on the game in Houston. Just look for Inspector Gadget with the Dreadlocks. The second cougars in the second year is 6-foot 8 with a 7-foot 4 wing span and blocks two shots in just 21.8 minutes per game.

Tugler has a defensive evaluation of 89.8 when it is on the ground, preferably in the nation. When is he gone? It falls to 98.3 per CBB analysis. Still elite, but still one of the biggest falls in college basketball. It is such a special defensive to fly through the square with his long limbs.

I would bet that every dollar I own mentions that the grandfather of Saunder’s Tater has invented together. It is funny for me because these types of stupid stories are reserved for the bankmen who do not contribute much. And on the surface you could think that this applies to Saunders. He is not the biggest athlete, and he is not the biggest either. And even his shot is not too pretty.

But man, his shot goes inside a lot. Saunders had combined 41 points in BYUS opening weekend games and shot both from the catch and from the dribble on the whole floor. He is an absolute freaking baller who achieves from everywhere has the feeling of passing and brings stubborn defense. I love everything about him.
