2025 RB Marquise Davis transfers to Mizzou from Kentucky

Missouri ended the weekend with its first “Flipmas” of 2024.

The Tigers received a verbal commitment from Marquise Davis, who took an official visit to Missouri this past weekend. The four-star running back committed to Kentucky back in May.

Davis, who Missouri also faced midway through the season, joined the program as the 16th current player and improved the Tigers six spots to No. 21 in the recruiting team rankings for the class of 2025.

The Tigers added their second running back commitment of the current cycle when Davis joined four-star all-purpose defensive lineman Jamarion Morrow, who has been exploring other options with an official visit to Georgia and an unofficial visit to Texas A&M in November.

Missouri also has former Boise State player Brendon Haygood, who also took an official visit last weekend to check out the program.

Three-star JUCO all-purpose defensive lineman Waymond Jordan, who originally planned to split with Missouri and UCF last weekend, ended up not visiting Missouri and likely won’t make the trip, he said MizzouToday on Saturday.

The Tigers want two running backs in the 2025 class, and with Davis on the roster, it will come down to whether Missouri can keep Morrow or get Haygood’s commitment on Tuesday.

Scouting report

Greg Smith: “The Cleveland Heights star is a running back who can do a little bit of everything. This will make him a very useful player in the Tigers’ offense. At 6-foot-3 and 195 pounds, he is a physical runner and looks like a four-star running back.

The running back quickly burst onto the recruiting scene during his junior season. He was very productive as a junior, recording 2,228 rushing yards at 8.8 yards per carry and 35 touchdowns in 13 games.

He is also a two-way player in his high school and had 63 tackles, showing that he is a physical player. He was at the Under Armor camp in Ohio where I was able to see him in person. Although he told Rivals after camp that he needed to work on his route running, he showed good ability to create separation and catch the football one-on-one.

I also had the opportunity to watch Davis play in his season opener at Michigan. It runs with good pad level and also has good balance. Davis was also able to showcase his pass-catching ability by lining up in the slot as well. Davis has the potential to be a three-down back in the SEC.”
