5 More Christmas Movies From Lacey Chabert To Keep The Holiday Magic Alive After ‘Hot Frosty’

Netflix’s “Hot Frosty” has become a bit of a sensation since it debuted on the streamer in early November, topping the Netflix charts, going viral and even earning a Ryan Reynolds parody thanks to its zany Christmas charm — and the charm of its lead Actress, Lacey Chabert.

Chabert is best known for playing the iconic and “so pretty” Gretchen Wieners in “Mean Girls.” His previous credits also include “Party of Five,” “Lost in Space,” and voice roles in “The Wild Thornberrys” and “Young Justice.” and earned the title “Queen of Hallmark” for the over 30 Hallmark films she has directed over the years.

Additionally, “Chabert” has become a staple of the holidays. So if you’re looking for more Lacey Chabert Christmas movies to watch after Hot Frosty, there’s plenty to choose from. For Hallmark newbies, some might say a shocking amount – but don’t worry, we’ve put together a selection of the must-watch favorites. Here are five of the best and where you can watch them now.

“Christmas Waltz” (2020)

Streaming on: Hallmark+

“Christmas Waltz,” a current fan favorite, pairs Chabert with Hallmark’s resident groover Will Kemp; A professional dancer turned Hallmark star who plays the dance teacher who heals the heart of Chabert’s Type A corporation after their dream Christmas wedding is canceled. If you were drawn to the super sweet dynamic between Chabert and Dustin Milligan in “Hot Frosty,” this is the perfect choice. Chabert and Kemp have such good chemistry, they’ve starred in three Hallmark movies together, and their dynamic in “Christmas Waltz” is sweet to boot, with a bit of silliness that “Hot Frosty” fans should enjoy.

“Haul Out the Holly” (trademark)

“Haul Out the Holly” (2023)

Streaming on: Netflix and Hallmark+

If you want to keep up with the craziness of “Hot Frosty,” you’re out of luck, because that’s unique, but the 2022 holiday comedy “Haul Out the Holly” has its own unbridled energy. Chabert begins as Emily, who takes a holiday trip home to visit her parents, only to learn that they’re going on vacation – leaving her to deliver the extravagant Christmas decorations her Christmas-crazed cul-de-sac needs. Chabert fights and flirts with the pedantic, slightly confused HOA president – a testament to Chabert’s charm and Wes Brown’s talent as one of Hallmark’s main leads that the romance works at all.

The silliest of Chabert’s Christmas films before Hot Frosty, this is where I’d start if I were looking for something similar, and as a bonus there’s a sequel, Haul Out the Holly: Lit Up. Both films are currently streaming on Netflix.

“A Royal Christmas” (trademark)

“A Royal Christmas” (trademark)

“A Royal Christmas” (2014)

Streaming on: Hallmark+

The royal Christmas romance genre has exploded in recent years, but of course Hallmark’s queen came out on top a decade ago with A Royal Romance. Chabert plays an all-American tailor who is eager to take over the family business and happens to fall in love with a prince. When the couple returns to their home castle for Christmas, she clashes with his traditional, elitist Queen Mother (played by the great Jane Seymour) and befriends the royal staff. Netflix is no stranger to royal romance with its A Christmas Prince and The Princess Switch franchises. So if you want to delve into the Hallmark side of things, this is a natural transition.

“A Merry Scottish Christmas” (Hallmark)

Streaming on: Netflix and Hallmark+

If you love the atmosphere of the British destination but don’t like all the royal drama, A Merry Scottish Christmas could be just the thing you’re looking for when it comes to a feel-good Christmas watch. Chabert reunites as siblings with her Party of Five co-star Scott Wolf. Chabert and Wolf play an estranged brother-sister pair who travel to Scotland to visit their mother and uncover some family secrets. Of course, Chabert also develops a connection with a charming local Scot. It’s all pretty sweet, with an added dose of nostalgia for people who grew up watching the duo on TV, and the focus on the siblings makes for a refreshing change if you’ve watched too many romance-focused Hallmark films at this point. Watched Christmas movies.

“Winter in Vail” (2020)

Streaming continues: Hallmark+

Would you like to feel like you’ve just stepped into a wintry snow globe? Meet Hallmark’s “Winter in Vail.” Set in Colorado’s beautiful Vail ski resort, the 2020 Christmas film stars Chabert as a woman who inherits a house there (talk about a Christmas fantasy) and bonds with a handsome local (Tyler Hynes) who helps her dress Strudel festival. This one offers more majestic Alpine scenery, strudel baking and wintry luxury than pure Christmas cheer, making it a great early season choice for anyone not yet ready to fully commit to Christmas.

“Black Christmas” (Dimension Films)

Wildcard Bonus: “Black Christmas” (2006)

Streaming on: FuboTV and Paramount+ with Showtime

Not in the mood for a romantic Christmas comedy? Then we have another option for you – the early remake of Bob Clark’s groundbreaking slasher film Black Christmas. But be warned, this adaptation is scarier than ever and was heavily panned upon release, although it now has its supporters (including yours truly) and Chabert plays a more minor role.
