19 News obtained his death certificate, which describes the death as a homicide and lists the cause of death as blunt force trauma to the neck.

The attack occurred in the area of Topaz Lane and Gratton Road in Brunswick Hills, Cuyahoga County detectives said.

“He stopped breathing; We performed CPR,” said Christopher Olson Sr., the teen’s father. “They worked on him for a little longer in the emergency room and he passed away early Saturday morning.”

19 News first reported the case: Olson, a teenager from Medina, spent the night with some friends in Brunswick Hills on July 12th.

He returned home early on the morning of the 13th, sick and with bruises on his face, no one explained.

Police said the few friends he was with also couldn’t explain where he was for part of the night.

When his parents awoke to the excitement of their son’s return, they said it was already too late.

“To be sent home to me broken and to die in our arms,” Rochelle Olson said.

Both parents are still waiting for answers and some sort of closure, believing the entire case has been kept under the public radar for far too long.

“I contacted the coroner to see what was going on, who then scolded me for contacting the news,” Christopher Olson Sr. said.

“We know there is a process; All we ask for is a little bit of communication so we know it’s moving forward and not stalling,” said Rochelle Olson.

The family went to the Topaz Lane neighborhood where their son spent his last night and tried to raise awareness in hopes of getting someone to call the police with another piece of the puzzle.

“Anyone who knows anything, please come forward and do the right thing,” Christopher Olson Sr. said.

The Medina County District Attorney’s Office is offering a reward of up to $5,000 for information leading to the arrest and indictment of those who killed Olson.
