In Old Sacramento, families can experience the holiday spirit and music from the movie “The Polar Express” with a train ride that includes hot chocolate and a chance to meet Santa. But Kris Kringle’s car suffered a mechanical failure Tuesday and will be out of service said a statement from Tim Schroepfer, president and CEO of the California State Railroad Museum Foundation. Around 600 passengers will be affected by the removal of the car from Friday to Sunday. Schroepfer said that due to time and space constraints, there was no other option than to give customers a refund. “We understand how important the Polar Express™ train ride is to families throughout the region and deeply regret any disappointment this may cause,” said Schroepfer. “As a goodwill gesture, passengers with canceled tickets will be given early access to purchase tickets for the 2025 Polar Express™ train ride. We sincerely apologize for the disruption this has caused to some families’ vacation plans. We appreciate the continued support of our loyal patrons and will work to regain their trust. “The museum foundation expects the Kris Kringle car to be back in action on Tuesday.
