Phoenix’s mother is still hoping for answers 14 years after her daughter and friend was murdered

PHOENIX (AZFamily) – A Phoenix mother is still searching for answers after her daughter and friend were murdered nearly 15 years ago.

Nicole Glass and Melissa Mason were found strangled to death in their home near 42nd Street and Thomas Road on December 3, 2010. Both were 27 years old at the time of their deaths. Mason was also pregnant.

On Saturday afternoon, Phoenix police and Rachel Glass, Nicole’s mother, held a press conference to announce they were increasing the reward for information to $8,700.

Glass hopes a larger reward will persuade more people to come forward with information that leads to a suspect and an arrest.

“She was full of life. She really was. She had a lot of friends,” Glass said of her daughter. “She was a great child. She really was. She is a wonderful woman. And I just can’t believe someone would do something like that to her.”

Police say they conducted multiple DNA tests but found no matches. Almost 15 years later, they’re hoping someone will come forward with a new tip.

“We don’t want cases to go unsolved and not be solved,” Phoenix Police Sgt. Brian Bower said. “Everyone wants to know that there is a light at the end of the tunnel that we will find the person.”

For years, Glass has wondered who killed her daughter and why. She is ready for her years of pain and search for answers to end and find closure.

“It’s just heartbreaking that I don’t have those milestones. No weddings, no grandchildren. I will never be a grandmother. So that’s difficult,” Glass said. “I can’t lose hope because when you lose hope you have nothing. And I still believe that people want to do the right thing and that people want to stand up and do the right thing.”
