Record tourism revenue in this coastal New Jersey town in 2024

In the years following the COVID-19 lockdowns in 2020, it has taken many companies some time to fully recover. One industry that took a big hit was the tourism industry in South Jersey.

Many New Jersey coastal towns are home to businesses whose revenue depends on the seasonal tourism industry. Numerous small businesses rely on the patronage of locals and vacationers from May to September each year.

In a press release, the Greater Wildwoods Tourism Improvement and Development Authority announced that The Wildwoods’ direct tourism spending increased four percent during the 2024 tourism season compared to 2023.

From January to August 2024, The Wildwoods spent over $374 million in direct tourism expenditures. In 2023, the popular seaside community saw record revenues that were surpassed last summer.

Considered one of New Jersey’s most beautiful islands, the Wildwoods are notable for the famous Wildwood Boardwalk, which attracts hundreds of thousands of visitors each year. A main attraction for many summer vacationers are the extensive beaches of the City of Wildwood, which do not require beach passes or day passes.
