The matchup:
The Indianapolis Colts (5-7) travel to the New England Patriots (3-9) to face their longtime nemesis in Foxborough.
The heated “Peyton Mannning-Tom Brady” rivalry of the early 2000s is long gone (and both teams have had much tougher times). However, the Colts hope to end a losing streak on the road in New England, where Indianapolis hasn’t won since November 2006.
Offensively, it starts for the Colts with getting Jonathan Taylor and the ground game back on track, allowing second-year dual-threat quarterback Anthony Richardson to make plays from it. Richardson has played much more confidently and error-free in the last few weeks since his reinstatement and appears to have turned a corner in his development.
While on defense, the Colts will be hoping to stop the Patriots’ rookie quarterback, Drake Maye’s, who they’ll be looking to frustrate and force to take away all afternoon. Similar to the Colts, the Patriots will want to establish their running game with Rhamondre Stevenson and Antonio Gibson to support their young quarterback in the passing game.
