The husband of an Oregon woman who disappeared while hiking with her two dogs just weeks after filing for divorce has been arrested on murder charges.

She filed for divorce from her husband of 12 years on October 31, citing “irreconcilable differences.”

The couple was still legally married at the time of her disappearance and death.

Officers began searching for her and two large Malinois mixes, but called off the search on Nov. 26. Her truck was later found on the side of the road.

Last Friday, a week after Susan was first reported missing, a passerby told police she found the body of a woman – later identified as Susan – on the side of the road.

Neighbors told KGW8 that while the couple mostly kept to themselves, things were noticeably bad between the two.

“You expected it; “A lot of people have been talking about domestic violence,” neighbor Betty Swan-DeLong told the outlet. “The other thing was that everyone wanted to know where the dogs were.”

Susan’s two dogs, Elrond and Elros, are still missing, according to police.
