Oregon teenager Daniel Gore, who “felt like Dexter,” has been found guilty of murdering 13-year-old girl Milana Li

An Oregon teenager obsessed with the crime series “Dexter” has been found guilty of fatally strangling and raping a 13-year-old girl after luring her into the woods.

According to the Beaverton Police Department, Milana Li was found dead in a creek in Washington County, Oregon on May 10, 2022.

Li’s mother had reported her daughter’s disappearance the day before, triggering a large-scale search operation. Search crews didn’t have to look far, however, as she was found less than a mile from her home and school, The Oregonian reported at the time.

Her death was ruled a homicide, and authorities used cell phone records and security footage to determine that she was last seen with then-16-year-old Daniel Gore.

According to The Oregonian, Gore was tracked down the same day Li’s body was recovered from a local library. He fled but was captured after a 20-minute chase.

Authorities also found Gore’s tent where he had been living not far from Li’s body. In a diary left in the tent, Gore described his love of violence.

He specifically noted that he “felt like Dexter,” referencing the popular TV show about a serial killer’s blood spatter analyst. He also had symbols related to horrorcore rapper 7XVN carved into trees near his camp, according to The Oregonian.

After killing Li, the sadistic teenager had tried to concoct an alibi but failed. Among other things, he had stolen her phone and sent a text message to a handful of his friends, repeatedly claiming that he and Li had broken up at a bus stop earlier in the day.

However, surveillance footage from the bus stop showed that the two had gone together to Gore’s hideout in the woods.

Gore, now 18, was tried as an adult and convicted on all four counts in less than 90 minutes after the two-week trial. He was emotionless the entire time and did not testify.

His charges include first-degree murder, rape and sexual abuse, according to a news release from the Washington County District Attorney’s Office. He is serving a life sentence with the possibility of parole in 30 years.

He is scheduled to be sentenced on December 2nd.
