Lego Technic Ferrari F1 car is huge, expensive and awesome

We have good and bad news for the car-crazy Lego fans out there. The company’s latest Technic offering is a gorgeous 1:8 scale Ferrari SF-24 Formula 1 car, modeled after the original currently competing for the championship. Unfortunately you won’t receive it over the holidays. An order placed today should ship no earlier than March 1, 2025. Too bad.

The replica of Ferrari’s latest F1 car is around 60cm long and is made from 1,361 different Lego bricks, some of which move, such as the adjustable spoiler. It also features working steering and under the engine cover is a full-size replica of the real car’s high-revving 1.6-liter V6 engine. The pistons rotate and there is even a two-speed gearbox.

As with most Lego Technic kits, the construction is quite complex. It’s aimed at adults and, at $229.99, isn’t necessarily something you’d want to play with after building it. Or hey, maybe you do. We don’t judge anyone who wants to push this around in the garage making Ferrari F1 sounds.

The SF-24 complements existing Mercedes and McLaren Lego Technic F1 kits that are already available. The McLaren debuted a few years ago and is slightly larger at just over 60cm long. There are also more bricks – 1,432 to be exact – and it has the same visible engine/gearbox combination. The Mercedes-AMG W14 is even more complex, with 1,642 parts being used in its construction. Both cars cost a little less than the Ferrari, but you can still expect to pay around $200 per kit.
