In a recent Patch story, they cited information from Travel + Leisure. History ranked their top 25 Christmas towns in America, and two towns on that list come from right here in New Jersey.

Patch says: “If you’re looking for a place close to home to get into the holiday spirit, two cities in New Jersey are among the best Christmas towns in the United States.” Additionally, “Last week, the authors of Travel + Leisure published a list of the 25 most beautiful cities to visit on vacation. From Maine to California, the list includes cities from every corner of America.”

The two cities named the BEST in New Jersey are both from “South Jersey.” Cape May and Atlantic City are the two that made Travel + Leisure’s list of the top 25 in America.

Cape May is a beautiful city that shines even brighter during the holidays and Christmas season. According to the article “This Jersey Shore town has a strong Victorian feel, easily recognizable in its picturesque architecture, and the holiday season pushes it up a notch further on the Dickensian scale.” If you didn’t visit Cape May over the holidays, try going there this year. Furthermore, the authors said “Walk the Washington Street Mall to admire garland and holiday lights while you shop. While you’re there, stop by The Original Fudge Kitchen, which offers great fudge and salt water toffee gift boxes. Book a stay at Congress Hall, especially if you have kids. The hotel typically transforms its Grand Lawn into a seaside winter wonderland with festive activities.”

The second city selected is Atlantic City. According to the authors “A casino and boardwalk don’t exactly conjure up images of plum pudding and Christmas carols, but Atlantic City’s wild weekend vibes and lively people-watching around the holidays have plenty to offer.” They also found that “Celebrations include the annual tree lighting at The Quarter at Tropicana shopping center and the Christmas market at Noyes Arts Garage at Stockton University.”
