Alleged dog napper throws Commerce City puppies out of moving car window

A Commerce City dog was stolen from his home in November and thrown out the window of a moving car, fracturing his spine, police said.

“He was in tremendous pain and unable to move,” Commerce City police said in a Facebook post last week. “This sweet boy had to be put down.”

Police said Rambo was grabbed by a dog in his backyard on Nov. 23 and thrown out the passenger window of a moving car near East 64th Avenue and Monaco Street around 7:45 p.m.

The dog’s owners told investigators that Rambo was left in the backyard that day and disappeared when they returned home, the Facebook post said.

A passerby who witnessed the “horrific ordeal” tried to help Rambo before officers arrived and called police, investigators said.

Officials took Rambo to an emergency veterinary clinic but said staff had to euthanize him because of his broken spine.
