I use these 5 apps to find Christmas wallpapers

Let’s be honest: Christmas decorations are part of our nature. These days our phones are as much our “home” as any other; Therefore, a Christmas mobile background can make a big difference. While some free wallpaper apps are full of ads and design flaws, there are a number of solid sources for iPhone and Android wallpapers.

1 Backgrounds

Regardless of whether you have an iOS or Android device, you can use the backgrounds app for holiday wallpapers. With hundreds of original wallpapers for every occasion, Background highlights specific designs in a carousel at the top of the app Explore Page, such as this Wall of the day And User favorite. You can easily browse, favorite and save images on the go.

Even though Backgrounds has a Pro membership for $3.99, this subscription isn’t overly demanding compared to other apps. Even if you don’t have access to certain collections, there are plenty of high-quality images in the free version, including holiday-themed backgrounds. All you have to do is tap “Search” and type anything from “Christmas” to “Winter.”

More than any other app I’ve explored, Scenes offers modern, high-resolution, and design-conscious Christmas wallpaper options. While I have a place in my heart for the cheesier backgrounds that other apps offer, there’s a risk of making your screen too busy or making your text unreadable.

The only downside to this app is that it can consume a bit of battery. However, this is the case with most apps that offer large collections of high-resolution images for download.

2 Wally

Similarly, Walli goes against the grain with unexpected, modern takes on holiday wallpapers and is available for both Android and iOS users. Walli selects artwork from illustrators and photographers to submit to the app, creating a tapestry with various backgrounds to choose from.

Compared to Backgrounds, Walli will force a paid subscription on you a little more, but still not in a completely disruptive way. Browsing the images you will find wallpapers that you can download completely free. However, some require you to watch an ad, while others can only be accessed through a premium membership.

Still, when I entered the search term “Christmas,” I found plenty of impressive options that I didn’t have to pay a dime for.

3 One4Wall

Unlike Wallpapers and Walli, the One4Wall app will not drain your phone battery while scrolling through wallpapers. This app is home to more than 2,000 colorful and imaginative works of art that you can explore all at once or narrow down into collections the app has already curated for you.

I looked at One4Wall Christmas Collection to find some vibrant, photorealistic holiday wallpapers including snowmen and decorated farmhouses. I was able to select my favorites, see the artists mentioned, and quickly download the files with no issues.

Like other apps, One4Wall also has a paid option that gives you access to Pro collections. However, the app doesn’t push membership beyond a single pop-up on the homepage. If you want to pay for better access, you can choose between a weekly, monthly or lifetime subscription.

4 Capping boom

Kappboom, also called Kappboom Wallpapers, offers over 200,000 wallpapers, so there is definitely something for everyone in this app. Kappboom also includes a photo editor that allows you to enhance the included designs by adding stickers, drawing on them, cropping, adjusting brightness, and more.

When it comes to Christmas backgrounds, the possibilities are seemingly endless. The kitsch level is high, but I’m not mad about it.

I particularly liked the fun sound effects when navigating the app, not to mention the unobtrusive advertising. If you want to get rid of ads and unlock premium content, a Diamond membership is available for $8/month or $50/year.

5 Canva

This option may seem a little more complicated than the others, but Canva is an often-forgotten resource for Christmas-themed wallpapers.

While the Canva app is already a very user-friendly platform for amateur graphic design, it also offers mobile wallpapers that require no customization. Just search for that Phone wallpaper Select the templates Christmas Tag and browse tons of backgrounds available to download.

In addition to plug-and-play background images, Canva also lets you customize your own design. For example, if you want to incorporate a photo of your dog into a holiday-themed background, Canva makes it easy for even the less tech-savvy.

You can also add effects, change colors, and even add some Christmas-themed elements, which are Canva’s built-in graphics.

Unlike the other apps on this list, you need to open a Canva account to access and download designs.

However, opening an account is free. Although there are some tempting templates and features behind a premium paywall, there are also many that are free to work with.

Of course, if none of these Christmas designs inspire you, photos of family and friends around the Christmas tree can also be used as elegant wallpaper.

I know what you’re thinking: it’s easier said than done. But even beginners can use smartphone photography techniques like portrait mode to create professional-looking Christmas images. Get out there and share the Christmas spirit on your phone screen – the elves will thank you.
