The former Steelers WR has an uncertain future with a new team after a mysterious bench move

Former Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Diontae Johnson’s future with the Baltimore Ravens for the remainder of the season is uncertain after he didn’t play any snaps on Sunday against the Philadelphia Eagles. Johnson’s zero snaps came after Rashod Bateman went down with a knee injury that sidelined him for the rest of the game. Instead, those snaps went to Tylan Wallace and Nelson Agholor and Johnson didn’t play.

When asked after the game why Johnson didn’t play, head coach John Harbaugh said he wasn’t willing to discuss it.

“I’m not really ready to comment on it at the moment. I will, but I don’t have enough information to talk about it right now,” Harbaugh said.

Lamar Jackson’s response was equally cryptic. He said the Ravens want Johnson out there, but it appears there was a hurdle the Ravens haven’t discussed publicly yet.

“We want him out there. He’s a great receiver. We didn’t get him from the Panthers for nothing,” Jackson said.

Since transferring from Carolina, Johnson has just one reception for six yards. His snaps have decreased rather than increased, and it appears his future with the Ravens is murkier than ever after the Baltimore loss.
