“Philadelphia 76ers make roster moves after Drummond, Embiid setbacks”

The Philadelphia 76ers have taken several big hits in their frontcourt lately. As a result, the Sixers are reportedly making a roster move, swapping players in a two-way deal.

Accordingly HoopsHype’s Michael Scotto, the Sixers plan to waive veteran guard Lester Quinones. The next move is expected to be the signing of G League great Pete Nance ESPN’s Tim Bontemps.

According to Scotto, Nance’s move is due to the fact that the Sixers have suffered recent setbacks, with Andre Drummond and Joel Embiid having to deal with setbacks that have prevented them from taking the floor.

Before the Sixers’ 2024 training camp in the Bahamas, they signed Quinones to a two-way contract after he spent the last two years with the Golden State Warriors.

Last season, Quinones appeared in 37 games with the Warriors and averaged four points while shooting 40 percent from the field. Quinones knocked down 37 percent of his attempts out of three through the first 41 games of his career.

Since joining the Sixers, Quinones has only made four appearances this season. With just 17 minutes of playing time, Quinones scored nine points on 50 percent shooting in this period.

The Sixers add an undrafted 2023 prospect from North Carolina in Nance. During his fifth and final season at UNC, Nance averaged ten points and six rebounds per game while shooting 42 percent from the field.

Nance has just eight NBA games under his belt. Last season, he averaged three minutes on the field during his 10-day contract. Nance spent most of his professional career in the NBA G League with the Cleveland Charge.

During the G League regular season last year, Nance averaged 14 points and nine rebounds per game while shooting 45 percent from the field. He proved valuable as a stretch five, hitting 36 percent of his threes on nearly six attempts per game.

In eight games with the Charge this year, Nance has averaged 18 points, seven rebounds, four assists, one steal and two blocks.

The Sixers needed to add some more big man depth with Andre Drummond dealing with an ankle sprain. While he doesn’t expect to be out for long, Drummond will miss at least three games.

As for Embiid, he has been treating his knee injury from last season. So far, Embiid has only appeared in four games. He will miss his fifth straight game on Tuesday night in Charlotte.
