11 Things That Make a New Jersey Restaurant a Real Restaurant

There was a funny back and forth on the New Jersey subreddit recently about a very famous restaurant in New Jersey. Peaks in East Newark. People praised her food as addictive. The disadvantage was the long waiting times. Doesn’t that just tell you how good a place is?

Now Tops made headlines not long ago with some major renovations. The legendary diner, which has been around since 1942, was completely gutted. It reopened earlier this year with $11 million in improvements.

These include a $5,000 per month water filtration system, a champagne case and even a barista station. Could you still call this much class a diner?

Fans say yes. They say it still has the feel of a diner, albeit modern.

However, the question arises: What makes a diner a real diner? New Jersey has more diners than any other state and we are often called the diner capital of the world. So we better do it right.

While the list of things that make a guest a real guest could go on and on, here are the basics.
