How to Get a Custom Taylor Swift Doll

BALTIMORE – She’s one of the biggest stars in the world, shrunken to an 18-inch doll.

Kelly Heil is the creator of custom Taylor Swift dolls. The idea came to her when her youngest daughter asked for one and she couldn’t find one in that size.

“I bought a doll with blonde hair and blue eyes, gave her a complete Taylor makeover and made an outfit for her. I had a lot of fun with it,” she said.

She cuts the doll’s hair to give it Taylor’s signature bangs, a cat eye, and bright red lipstick.

Heil hand-sews sparkling body suits, in pink for the Lover era or blue for the Midnight era. She makes tiny friendship bracelets with words like “Kind,” “Hope,” and “Dream.” She even paints the doll’s nails with the colors that represent each era of Taylor Swift.

When friends and family saw the doll she made, they wanted one too. This year, Heil is expanding her clientele with an Etsy shop called “Live for the Hope of It,” a lyric from one of Taylor’s songs.

Heil doesn’t do it alone, her daughters help her put the finishing touches on it. It’s a chance for mother and daughters to bond over their love for Taylor Swift. Heil hopes her clients build the same memories she did with her children.

“When it’s an artist and a woman that we look up to who is really successful and uses her talent to make all her dreams come true, it’s a great thing to see the daughters get excited about her and a Build a bond with them.”
