Broncos-Browns was no Scorigami, but the game made history

The Denver Broncos defeated the Cleveland Browns 41-32 Monday Night Football in week 13. This isn’t a typical result, but surprisingly it wasn’t Scorigami (the first final result ever).

On Monday, for the second time in NFL history, a game ended 41:32. The last time the Miami Dolphins defeated the Boston Patriots was in 1967.

“Holy cow,” Broncos coach Sean Payton said after the wild play. “Some games go in a direction you think they will go. Obviously it went in a completely different direction. We did enough and made enough plays in the end to win.”

Although the end result wasn’t scorigami, Denver made history on Monday night. NFL teams were 5-41 when allowing at least 550 yards over the last decade. The Broncos allowed 552 yards to the Browns, improving that record to 6-41.

Denver quarterback Bo Nix also made history with a 93-yard touchdown pass to wide receiver Marvin Mims, the longest pass by a rookie in franchise history.

“It was a different game,” Payton said. “We have to learn from it. It’s good to get the win, which is important because we’re at the stage of the season in December where all these things are important. We succeeded. We will rest during the break and prepare for an Indianapolis team.”

The Broncos have a bye in Week 14 before hosting the Colts in Week 15.
