Five-star DE Nate Marshall returns to Michigan

Who says you can’t go home again?

Nate Marshall has chosen the five-star defenseman Michigan again. The Fenwick superstar from Chicago (Illinois) signed up Auburn already in August. But now coach Sherrone Moore’s first signing as Michigan coach is back on the roster just a day before National Signing Day.

Marshall is the 21st known commitment to Michigan in the 2025 recruiting class. He is now the second five-star player in his class, following quarterback Bryce Underwood. The Wolverines have been on an incredible run that began on November 1st with the signing of four-star defensive lineman Shamari Earls.

On the field, Michigan is getting an outstanding player. Marshall comes from a basketball background, which can be seen in the way he moves on the football field. His combination of size and athleticism allows him to dominate on both offense and defense on Friday night.

The main reason he is such a desirable defensive lineman is because he can play at any spot on defense. He has the mobility to stand up and play more of an EDGE-like role. He has the size and strength to play a traditional defensive end. The night I saw him play against his team, he lined up as a defensive tackle and wreaked havoc from there.

Marshall was a huge win for the Wolverines when they first signed him. It stays that way this time too. Attracting elite players from the region is a high priority for this team. The Chicago native’s return is just another sign that Michigan is one of the hottest teams in college football right now.
