“It’s one of the biggest rivalries in the country,” quarterback Jalen Milroe said.

With the added pressure that comes with a rivalry like the Iron Bowl, players need to go into this game mentally prepared for the stress.

“Every hardship, every obstacle we’ve faced all season, we’ve overcome together, and that’s eye-opening,” Milroe said.

The quarterback position is one of the most important positions on the field. Not only is he responsible for moving the ball down the field, whether through a pass or passing the ball to another player, but the quarterback is also expected to be a leader on and off the field.

Head coach Kalen DeBoer praised Milroe’s resilience after the game, especially in light of his rebound the previous week.

“It’s hard being a quarterback,” DeBoer said after this year’s Iron Bowl. “And I think it’s hard to be the quarterback of a program that expects to win every game.”

The week before the Iron Bowl, Auburn freshman linebacker Demarcus Riddick did Testify towards Milroe and freshman receiver Ryan Williams.

About Milroe, Riddick saidHe’s a good quarterback, he’s fast, but he’s not faster than me.” Of Williams, he said: “To me he’s not really anyone” and “not a great player.”

The fans’ eyes were on Milroe, who came into this game having struggled Performance the week before against Oklahoma. With tensions already high, Auburn players added fuel to the fire.

But Milroe wasn’t the only leader on the field; Milroe said that during the ups and downs of this season, several leaders on the team emerged, particularly offensive lineman Tyler Booker.

“This is a guy who works tremendously hard every day to be the best version of himself, but also to lift people up,” Milroe said. “There are two types of leadership, a puller and a lifter, and he does both at a very high level.”

In the end, Riddick’s words couldn’t stop the team hit the Tigers 28-14.

“We’ve heard it, we’ve seen it, but business is business and we have to take care of business,” defensive lineman Tim Keenan III said. “We have a job to do.”
