SINGER VICTOR WILLIS OF THE DISCO GROUP “VILLAGE PEOPLE” DEFENDS AND THANKS PRESIDENT-ELECT DONALD TRUMP FOR *HIS USE OF THEIR CLASSIC – YMCA… WHILE HE DENIES THE CLAIM THAT THE SONG IS A “GAY ANTHEM” QUOTE.

IN A DETAILED FACEBOOK POST… WILLIS SHARE WHY HE ALLOWED TRUMP TO USE THE SONG DURING HIS CAMPAIGN.

AT THE END OF HIS 20-20 RALLIES, TRUMP FREQUENTLY BREAKED INTO HIS CHARACTERISTIC DANCE…He clenched his fists and jumped to the beat of the song.

The viral dance quickly became a staple at his rallies…and his social media.

“You know what makes them rock?”

“YMCA…”

“… is an underrated title.”

BUT SINCE 20-20… WILLIS CLAIMS TO HAVE RECEIVED SEVERAL COMPLAINTS ABOUT TRUMP WITH THE 19-78 HIT.

In response, Willis initially asked Trump to stop using the song, describing the complaints as annoying.

DESPITE THE REQUEST… THE TRUMP CAMPAIGN HAD THE LEGAL RIGHT TO USE THE SONG… AFTER RECEIVING A “POLITICAL USE LICENSE” FROM BMI – A PERFORMANCE RIGHTS ORGANIZATION.

BUT HE SAYS WHEN HE NOTICED TRUMP REALLY ENJOYED THE SONG, HE DECIDED NOT TO REVOKE THEIR LICENSE.

WILLIS FURTHER ADDS THAT TRUMP’S CONTINUED USE OF YMCA HAS MADE SEVERAL MILLION DOLLARS IN REVENUE FOR THE GROUP SINCE 20-20.

Complaints aside… WILLIS also addresses the claim that YMCA is a quote “Gay Anthem” due to misconceptions in the lyrics.

He says a line in the song where he says, “Hang Out With All The Boys” refers to a term for men just spending time together.

He is threatening legal action against media outlets that label the song as such.

IN THE SAME FACEBOOK POST… HE SAYS – “This assumption is based on the fact that the YMCA was apparently used as a kind of gay meeting place and since one of the authors was gay and some of the villagers are gay, the song must be a message to gay people.”

WILLIS SAYS HIS WIFE…who is also his manager…WILL SUING ANY NEWS ORGANIZATION THAT CONTINUES TO CALL THE SONG AS A “GAY ANTHEM” FROM 20-25…Such claims are both defamatory and damaging to his legacy.

WILLIS also clarified that while he doesn’t mind the LGBTQ-plus community considering the song as their anthem, its true legacy lies in its universal appeal.

He points out that YMCA has become a fixture at weddings, sporting events and even commercials – calling it an anthem for people from all walks of life, including President-elect Trump.
