College football Selection Sunday is almost upon us.

Following the release of the fifth and final College Football Playoff rankings of the season on Tuesday, the official CFP field will be announced this weekend.

The CFP only included four teams making their debuts in the 2014-15 season. However, the 2024-25 season will introduce an expanded format, giving 12 programs a chance to compete for the national championship.

The top five ranked conference champions automatically qualify for the playoffs, according to the CFP selection committee. The remaining seven places go to the next seven best teams from the selection committee.
