Idaho party leaders respond to pardon for Hunter Biden – LocalNews8.com

BOISE (KIFI) – Leaders of the Democratic and Republican parties in Idaho react to President Biden’s recent pardon of his son Hunter.

The pardon would free Hunter Biden from possible prison time for federal gun and tax convictions.

In the past, President Biden has stated that he will not use the presidency to benefit family members.

Idaho Republican Chairwoman Dorothy Moon says she wasn’t surprised by the turnaround.

“The allegations against him for so many illegal activities are a long list – a very long list. So of course he has to pardon him even though he said he wouldn’t do it,” Moon said. “I think everyone in Idaho isn’t surprised — but it’s unfortunate that we’re using the Justice Department as a weapon and allowing something like this to happen.”

Local News 8 reached out to the Idaho Democratic Party for comment and received an email saying Chairwoman Lauren Necochea is traveling this week and would refer us to President Biden’s statement.

The email also said: “If you would like to comment on the President-elect’s intention to appoint a historic number of sex offenders to his Cabinet, she would be happy to do so when she returns.”
