Idaho moose plays dog and waits on the lawn to greet the homeowner

For many people, being greeted by animals when returning home is part of everyday life. A North Idaho man recently shared a video of his encounter with a 1,000-pound animal that decided to rest its butt on the grass just feet from the front door.

It’s not for nothing that they call dogs “man’s best friend.” They are loyal animals that lie in wait every day to be the first to shower their owners with affection after they pull into the driveway. What most people don’t have to pass through on the way out the front door is a 1,000-pound moose, but that was the case recently for a Post Falls man.

Seeing them roaming around northern Idaho neighborhoods isn’t unusual, but they don’t typically plop down on the front lawn like a dog waiting for the family car to arrive.

Wild animals in the in-laws’ front yard” were the words the man used as he prepared to pull into the driveway on Tuesday afternoon (December 3). The YouTube footage shows the magnificent beast of an animal grazing on the front lawn, just below what appears to be a living room window. He doesn’t seem to care at all as he looks around the neighborhood.

Wild elk are common in this small town just 50 miles southwest of Sandpoint. Seeing them roaming around northern Idaho neighborhoods isn’t unusual, but they don’t typically plop down on the front lawn like a dog waiting for the family car to arrive.
