Racers use the big second half to beat Billikens

ST. LOUIS – The Billikens fell to 3-6 after Murray State used a strong second half to complete the comeback and defeat SLU 91-66 on Tuesday night at Chaifetz Arena.

The Racers started well with a 10-0 run, but the Bills came right back, scoring 18 unanswered points. SLU held MSU without a basket for nearly seven minutes in the first quarter.

Saint Louis shot 42.9 percent from three and held Murray State to 18.2 percent with just two made threes. The Racers turned the game around in the second half, shooting 66.7 percent from distance with 10 three-pointers.

The Billikens forced 23 turnovers and scored 32 points from them. Saint Louis had 14 steals, the most all season, led by Kennedy Calhoun who set the school record with nine steals. Tierra Simon recorded her fifth career double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds. Peyton Kennedy She led SLU in scoring with 20 points, marking six games in double figures and her third with at least 20 this season.

Saint Louis travels to Washington DC to take on Norfolk State in the Coaches vs. Racism Roundball Classic. The meeting point is set for 10:30 a.m. local time.
