Vandal Women’s Golf adds three

MOSCOW, Idaho – Idaho women’s head golf coach Stephanie Young announced the signing of three Vandals to National Letters of Intent as part of the 2025 Early Signing Day class. The group includes two international players, Diya Brar from India and Kinjung Chamchanayothin from Thailand, as well as Arizona native Lucy Newell, sister of the current Vandal Zoe Newell.

“We are very excited about all of our signees for the Class of 2025,” Young said. “Lucy, Diya and Inkjung are very happy to be Vandals and love the campus and the Moscow community. They are all tournament-proven and team-oriented individuals who will enrich our program enormously. Each of these young women is committed to achieving both success in the course and in the classroom and am very excited for them to join us in the fall. Congratulations Inkjung, Diya and Lucy!

Newell finished fifth at the Arizona State Championship in 2024 and second at the highly competitive Phoenix City Junior Championship in July.

She has finished in the top 10 at the Arizona Interscholastic Association High School Championships each of the last two years. She has over 50 tournaments under her belt and has been playing competitive golf since 2016.

Academically and service-oriented, Newell holds memberships in the Key Club and Club Green, as well as leadership in the national honor society.

Brar is from Chandigarh, India, but has competed in the United States. She was the 2022 Michigan Girls Junior State Am Champion and won the 2024 Ladies Amateur Chandigarh Open. She set a course record at Eagle Crest Golf Course in Michigan with a seven-under 65.

She is a member of the Mehar Baba Charitable Trust and uses her experience with technology to empower women in rural India to achieve computer-based learning.

Chamchanayothin won TKG’s Beyond Amateur Championship and captured two Junior Golf Series Central Region tournament titles. She finished second at the 2023 FCG International Junior Championship in San Diego and received the opportunity to play at the BGC Thailand LPGA Masters.

She has competed in 28 events counting for WAGR points since 2021.

The class will arrive in Idaho in the fall of 2025 ahead of the 2025-26 season. The Vandals are in the midst of their winter improvement season and return to action on February 11th and 12th at the BGSU Women’s Intercollegiate at the Wigwam Resort in Litchfield Park, Arizona.
