Wild chase ends in Santa Monica after suspect collides with car

During a high-speed chase that ended in Santa Monica, a suspect weaved dangerously through traffic and collided with a car.

SANTA MONICA, Calif. (KABC) — During a high-speed chase that ended in Santa Monica Tuesday night, a suspect weaved dangerously through traffic and collided with a car.

AIR7 ended the pursuit shortly after 8 p.m. when the speeding driver fled from Los Angeles police on the westbound 10 Freeway.

The suspect later got onto the highway shoulder and accelerated to pass other cars on the road. At times the driver reached speeds of over 120 miles per hour.

In just a few minutes, the suspect managed to get from downtown LA to Santa Monica.

The suspect later strayed onto the highway and collided with a car near 34th Street and Pico Boulevard in Santa Monica.

Police continued the pursuit for several minutes until the driver and a passenger parked their sedan in a parking lot at Donald Douglas Loop North and 31st Street near the airport.

The driver and passenger tried to escape but were arrested after a brief search.

According to police, the suspect’s vehicle was reported stolen.
