According to police, woman intentionally hits man with car

The woman punched an employee after he told her the bank’s drive-thru was closed while she was putting up decorations.

ST CLAIR, Missouri – A woman was arrested and charged after police say she intentionally struck a man who was putting up Christmas lights on a bench in St. Clair, Missouri.

Jemma Allen, 41, was charged with second-degree assault and resisting arrest in connection with an incident Monday morning at Sullivan Bank on North Main Street.

According to charging documents, Allen was driving her 2016 Kia Soul around 9:30 a.m. One side of the bank property was cordoned off by a crew putting up Christmas decorations along the waterfront.

Charging documents said Allen tried to force her way into the blocked portion of the parking lot so she could use the drive-thru, but there was an elevator and lots of lights on the ground. One of the crew members tried to tell her that the transit was closed, but she began arguing with him and swearing at him.

When the man moved away from her and bent down to pick up one of the tote bags, she accelerated and hit the man, charging documents say. According to charging documents, the man fell onto the hood of the car and held on as Allen sped across the parking lot.

According to charging documents, he was thrown from the hood of the car and onto the ground just before Allen left the parking lot. According to police, he suffered significant bruising but no apparent broken bones.

Police found Allen and her car at a home about a mile away. Police said while they were taking her into custody, Allen attempted to elude an officer.

Allen was held at the Franklin County Adult Detention Center and held on $100,000 bail.

The Urban League of Metropolitan St. Louis has the Neighborhood Healing Network, which helps people who have experienced crime or violence or have been the victim of a traumatic incident.

The Bullet Related Injury Clinic (BRIC) is a community-based clinic in St. Louis that helps people heal after being injured by a bullet. The BRIC was founded to help people being discharged from the emergency room after a gunshot wound.
