Stars place Tyler Seguin on IR, remember Justin Hryckowian

The Dallas Stars made a few changes ahead of their Monday game against Utah. They called themselves back to the front Justin Hryckowian and assigned defense attorney Alexander Petrovic. Also, stare ahead Tyler Seguin was placed on injured reserve with a lower body injury.

Seguin had struggled with a lingering lower-body injury for most of the season and was expected to miss at least one next game while dealing with the issue. Seguin has been in top form lately despite his poor health. He has scored multiple points in two of Dallas’ last four games, including a two-pointer on Friday. The Stars star has scored nine goals and 20 points in 19 games this season, ranking third on the team in scoring.

Seguin will be replaced by young forward Hryckowian, who has yet to make his NHL debut. The 23-year-old winger is in the first full season of his career. He played in 12 AHL games and had three points at the end of last season – when he signed with the Texas Stars as an undrafted college free agent. He played exceptionally well at the pro level, scoring a team-leading 16 points in 17 AHL games this season.

Meanwhile, Petrovic will return to the minors after two games and no points on the Dallas roster. Petrovic has nine points in 14 AHL games this season, the highest point total of his 14-year professional career. He has totaled 50 points in 266 career NHL games; and 160 points in 441 AHL games.
