Oneida County saw 10 inches of snow

According to the National Weather Service in Binghamton, a clipper ship from Alberta is making its way through the northern United States, bringing lots of snow to the Mohawk Valley.

An Alberta Clipper is a rapid low-pressure system that typically forms in the Canadian Rockies and typically brings with it a significant amount of snow.

Meteorologist Michael Kistner said this was “pretty strong.”

“This system doesn’t have a lot of moisture, so there won’t be a lot of snow, but there’s a lot more colder air coming in behind it, and areas like the Mohawk Valley and Tug Hill are so cold.” Air attacks lake moisture from Lake Ontario said Kistner. “It will increase snowfall in the Mohawk Valley and Tug Hill region, with Oneida County expecting the most snow.”
