Baltimore Ravens QB Lamar Jackson is being pushed to make big changes

The Baltimore Ravens are currently 8-5 on the season following their Week 13 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles. Lamar Jackson and Co. appear to be potential Super Bowl contenders, but there are concerns about their consistency.

Jackson put together another MVP season. In fact, he is one of the two leading candidates who ended up winning the award.

Regardless of how well he played, one NFL analyst has urged Jackson to make a big change.

Warren Sharp of Sharp Football Analysis suggested that Jackson should try to run more. He doesn’t think more targeted runs should be required for Jackson, but he does want Jackson to make more runs when the pass isn’t there, especially late in close games.

“There are a lot of times where the game is close and the game is a big play where Lamar seems to be scrambling around, staying in the pocket, staying behind the line of scrimmage for way too long before he does one of three things: a sack If he chooses to scramble, which often doesn’t provide as much upside as it would otherwise have if he had taken an open run much earlier, or if he had tried to fire the football when he outside of the Pocket, it moves, and it doesn’t. I didn’t see his feet set, and so it’s far less likely to be an accurate finish…Sometimes these guys are wide open, like we saw with Isaiah Likely (against the Eagles),” Sharp said.

He believes Jackson using his legs even more would give the Ravens a better chance to win a championship.

“What you have to do is win playoff games, win a Super Bowl,” Sharp said. “And the way you’re going to do that is by using your God-given abilities that most other quarterbacks don’t have. He is more elusive, elusive and quicker than Josh Allen and Jalen Hurts. He has to take advantage of that.”

So far this season, Jackson has completed 67 percent of his pass attempts for 3,290 yards, 29 touchdowns and just three interceptions. He also racked up 678 yards and three scores on the ground.

These numbers show how good and dominant the Baltimore quarterback was.

A problem arises when a quarterback runs the football more often. Running quarterbacks often suffer injuries at a much higher rate. The Ravens can’t afford for Jackson to get hurt.

If he can increase his runs in a safe manner, that would likely help Baltimore. He is one of the most electric playmakers in football, and if he utilizes his playmaking abilities more, it could provide a huge boost to the Ravens’ offense.
