Atlanta police are warning drivers about a fraud involving fake parking tickets across the city.

The fake tickets left in vehicles feature a QR code linked to a PayPal account and Gmail address and contain typos and other errors. According to APD, none of these features exist on legitimate parking permits, which are primarily issued by parking enforcement agency ATLPlus.

APD said in a statement that the public should carefully review all parking citations received, especially if they believe they were lawfully parked on a city street.

Drivers who have questions about the validity of a parking permit are encouraged to contact ATLPlus. If you suspect a fraudulent parking complaint, citizens should call 311 or 911 to file a police report.

Although APD issues parking citations, they look different than those issued by ATLPlus. An example of an ATLPlus citation can be found above and an official Atlanta Police parking citation can be found below.

Payments for parking citations issued by the Atlanta Police Department are processed by the Atlanta Municipal Court.
