Trump nominates Billy Long of Missouri for IRS commissioner

Former U.S. House Representative Billy Long has been appointed commissioner of the IRS by President-elect Donald Trump. Long represented Missouri’s 7th congressional district in the U.S. House of Representatives from 2011 to 2023. During his tenure, he served on the Energy and U.S. House Commerce Committees, focusing on issues such as healthcare, energy and telecommunications. Prior to his political career, Long worked as an auctioneer and real estate agent in the Springfield, Missouri area, building a successful 32-year business. “Billy brings 32 years of experience running his own real estate business and is one of the leading auctioneers in the country,” Trump said on Truth Social. “He then served in Congress for 12 years because he believed it was important for his constituents to have a representative who would sign the front of a check!” Trump praised Long as an “extremely hard worker.”
