Boise, ID – Dense fog and stagnant air continue to prevail in the Treasure Valley, raising safety concerns for motorists and people with respiratory illnesses. The dense fog warning remains in force until 2pm on Friday, while the air stagnation warning remains in force until 5pm on Saturday. Poor visibility and trapped pollutants pose significant risks.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS), visibility could drop to a quarter mile or less in some areas. The warning covers cities like Boise, Nampa and Caldwell, where weak winds are exacerbating stagnant air conditions. Residents are urged to drive carefully, use headlights and allow extra driving time, especially on major roads such as Interstate 84.

The weather outlook shows fog continuing into Friday morning and temperatures reaching highs of 37°F. Saturday brings a slight reprieve as highs reach 42°F, but rain chances increase late Saturday evening. By Sunday, a cold front could help clear the inversion, with temperatures reaching highs of 43°F under partly sunny skies.

The ongoing stagnation has also raised concerns about air quality. State authorities discourage outdoor burning to minimize trapped pollutants and recommend limiting time outdoors, especially for vulnerable groups.

Motorists are reminded to be aware of slippery roads, especially during early morning commutes. For current weather forecasts and travel advice, check local weather services before you leave.
