Osceola County woman charged with murder in her daughter’s bathtub drowning

OSCEOLA COUNTY, Fla — An Osceola County woman accused of holding her daughter’s head underwater in a bathtub has been formally indicted by a grand jury.

Kelsey Glover, 35, was arrested Nov. 20 after her 14-year-old daughter was found unresponsive in her home on Cambourne Drive in Poinciana. The grand jury indicted Glover on charges of first-degree murder and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

Osceola County Sheriff Marcos Lopez said during a news conference that there had been multiple calls about a “violent incident” at the home. Lopez said there were four people in the home when the incident occurred: Glover, her daughter, another child and someone else who lived with them.

Officers arrived and spoke with a witness who told investigators that the girl was unresponsive in the bathroom.

“When the officers get there, they actually wrestle a hammer away from (Glover) and she tries to hit the lady trying to stop her from harming her daughter,” Lopez said. “…Witnesses also told officers they saw Ms. Glover holding her 14-year-old daughter’s head under water in the bathtub and they tried to stop her but were unsuccessful. Eventually, Ms. Glover began attacking these witnesses with a hammer and chasing them through the home, resulting in them calling 911.”

Glover’s daughter was taken to a hospital where she was pronounced dead. The coroner determined the girl’s cause of death was drowning.

Lopez also said that there had been a “domestic problem” at this home in the past, with Glover abusing her husband (the 14-year-old’s father), who later obtained a restraining order against Glover.
