Wife asks husband about cryptic phone calendar note, can’t handle the answer

A man received applause from viewers online after his wife shared what he does when she needs extra support.

The woman took to Reddit on December 4 to share the heartwarming reason behind a cryptic calendar reminder she discovered in her husband’s cell phone. The note, which read “Be available for support,” was repeated every 28 days for five days and revealed her husband’s touching commitment to help her with the severe symptoms of her period.

The post, shared at u/CaffeinateMeCapn, has since been upvoted more than 13,000 times. Newsweek contacted u/CaffeinateMeCapn for more information on Reddit.

The man’s gesture is simple, but shows deep consideration and care and is very well received by the viewer. Etiquette expert Jo Hayes praised the husband’s actions, calling him a model of selfless, loving partnership and urging others to adopt similar practices in their relationships.

“Someone give this man a medal for Boyfriend of the Year or Husband of the Year,” said Hayes, who is also a speech-language pathologist Newsweek.

The post begins with the woman clarifying that she wasn’t snooping when she came across the calendar entry.

“He opened his calendar for something else and I saw that he had marked ‘Be available for assistance’ today,” the woman said. Curious about the meaning of the note, she asked her husband about it, and his answer revealed a deeply considerate act of love.

Her husband said he set the reminder to repeat every 28 days for five days, to coincide with her menstrual cycle. Knowing that she is experiencing severe menstrual cramps, he uses the reminder to ensure that he is prepared to give her any support she needs during these challenging days. The woman was deeply touched by this revelation, especially since he had also stocked up on her favorite comfort snacks.

“The man doesn’t remember taking his own allergy medication,” the woman added.

This story took the platform by storm and commenters showered praise on the caring husband.

“Aww, that makes me smile! “Loving someone the way they need to be loved is a long journey,” said one viewer.

Another added: “Oh my god this almost made me cry. This is what love looks like!”

“What a beautiful, kind, considerate man. This is Example A of a selfless, loving partnership,” Hayes said. “We can all take a leaf from this man’s book – yes, certainly in our romantic relationships, but this attitude and mindset would benefit all of our relationships.”

“Take the time to think about how we can support our loved ones in practical ways and do this.” Hayes said thoughtful actions like these can strengthen relationships, suggesting more people are adopting this supportive mindset when they be inspired by the post.

“The husband has a big work project coming up? Maybe carve out time in your own schedule to be there when he needs to let off steam or can’t quite keep up with his usual household duties. The siblings are going through a difficult time with their children.” “Maybe take time to babysit so she can have some much-needed time to herself,” Hayes added.
