‘RHOP’ alum Monique Samuels reveals her divorce settlement

Monique Samuels and her husband, Chris Samuelsgot divorced, but everyone is more interested in what their settlement ultimately looked like. The Real Housewives of Potomac star was seemingly happily married on the show However, after she left in Season 5, it was revealed that they were getting a divorce. While many online projected an image of her thinking she was only with Samuels for his money, the former reality star is now opening up the reality of their marriage and what the divorce left for them.

It was Samuels’ turn Dear future wife Season 9 where she spoke to the host Laterras R. Whitfield about reality TV, her life and her divorce from Samuels. One thing the two addressed was clarifying the scope she got when they divorced. Before her marriage, Samuels worked as a business manager for her husband and explained to him the process behind the couple’s marriage and its significance.

“You were accused of being a gold digger,” Whitfield said when he asked Samuels about the terms of their divorce. She responded with the outcome of their agreement. “So we had a prenuptial agreement” she revealed. “And when we sat down together to draft our prenuptial agreement, our intention was, ‘I never want you to think I want what you have.’ Or I want you for what you have.’ Like I said, when Chris and I first started dating, I worked for him. The way we did it, it was like I was still his general manager,” Samuels said.

She continued to talk about what the divorce meant to her. “Whatever the salary would have been, that would basically be everything. Because once we got married, it was basically like I didn’t have a job anymore. I don’t need income, it’s not like I get money and I’ve saved it in an account for myself. Basically it was like, “In the event we divorced, here’s what your salary would have been over the last few years if you were still working.” So it was more about covering up the fact that I wasn’t going to have a job.”

Samuels explained that the intent of the marriage was not that it would be “fixed” if they divorced, but rather that it be so She was afraid of not working and having her own income during the marriage. The former couple shares three children, but she receives no child support or child support, and they share custody, with each parent receiving two weeks a month. The former radio host explained that she received a lump sum payment and used the entire payment to purchase a home for herself and her children. She made money from her one season Love & Marriage: DC and from her radio salary. She now runs her own business and teaches her children at home.
