Months of child corruption investigations lead to criminal charges against Punxsy Man

HENDERSON TWP., Pa. (EYT) — A Punxsutawney man is charged following a child sexual abuse investigation by state police in Punxsutawney.

According to court documents, Trooper Kacey Osborne of PSP Punxsutawney filed a criminal complaint against Troy Dwayne Cregger Jr., 34, of Punxsutawney, in connection with alleged inappropriate contact with a minor.

Cregger is accused of the following charges:

  • Corruption of Minors – Defendant 18 years of age or older (third degree felony)
  • Indecent assault of a person under 16 years of age (second degree misdemeanor)

According to the criminal complaint, PSP Punxsutawney initiated an investigation after receiving a report on Dec. 1 at 1:18 p.m. Several patrol officers responded to a residence in Henderson Township, Jefferson County.

The investigation revealed alleged inappropriate contact over a period of approximately one month, with specific incidents identified on November 29, 2024. Police say audio recordings were submitted as evidence during the investigation.

After an interview at the Punxsutawney PSP station, Cregger was taken into custody.

Court documents show Cregger was arraigned before District Judge David B. Inzana at 6:04 p.m. on Dec. 1. He was unable to post the $20,000 bail (10% of the booked option) and was booked into the Jefferson County Jail.

Court records show bail was posted Dec. 2 at $2,000 cash.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Tuesday, December 17 at 12:30 p.m. with Judge Inzana presiding.
