14-year-old pedestrian killed by car in Fairfax County

“Alcohol and speed do not appear to be factors for the driver,” FCPD said Thursday.

BURKE, Va. – After a 14-year-old was struck and killed by a car in Fairfax County, police said Thursday they are investigating what happened.

The teenager was crossing Old Keene Mill Road in Burke at the intersection with Sydenstricker Road on Wednesday evening when he ran into the road and was struck by a car.

“A 14-year-old pedestrian attempted to cross Old Keene Mill Road and ran into the westbound lanes,” Fairfax County police said Thursday. “The driver of a Ford Fusion struck the pedestrian while traveling westbound.”

The crash occurred around 6:15 p.m., about an hour and a half after sunset. According to Fairfax County Police, the person who hit the teen remained at the scene

“Alcohol and speed do not appear to be factors for the driver,” FCPD said Thursday. “…The circumstances surrounding the crash remain under investigation.”

The teenager was taken to hospital, where he died that night.
