Car crashes into Cascade Meijer, injuring 4 people

CASCADE TOWNSHIP, Mich. – A vehicle crashed into the Meijer on 28th Street in Cascade Township Thursday morning.

The limousine plowed through the front wall of the building around 9:30 a.m., destroying the customer service area.

The store had to temporarily close early Thursday because the cash registers weren’t working.

As of 12:20 p.m. the store was back open and open to customers.

“We appreciate the quick response of our team and emergency responders in caring for those involved in this morning’s accident,” a Meijer spokesperson told FOX 17. “The store has reopened and we are ready to serve our customers.”

Images from the scene show the car obliterating the desk area and throwing gift cards and merchandise in all directions.

According to the Kent County Sheriff’s Office, four people were injured but fortunately only suffered minor injuries.

The 29-year-old driver appeared to have suffered a medical episode shortly before the accident.
