“Like water boils for chocolate, a second season boils”.

Max announced today that they have ordered a second season of the Spanish-language HBO original series Like water for chocolate.

According to the company, the series is the most-watched Latin American content globally and was among the top three most-watched series on the platform in its premiere month.

“It was incredible to see such an important Mexican story resonate with audiences around the world,” executive producer Salma Hayek Pinault said in a statement. “We are delighted to confirm a second season of Like water for chocolate and look forward to bringing such a strong and powerful story to a conclusion.”

“This second season of the series will complete the story and fuse essential aspects of Mexican culture, such as magical realism and gastronomy, acting as forms of expression and connection,” added Mariano Cesar, executive director of Warner Bros. Discovery. “These themes are developed from a female perspective, with the questioning of social and familial mandates reinforcing the current relevance of the narrative.”

In the second season of the series, the protagonists return: Irene Azuela, Azul Guaita, Ana Valeria Becerril, Andrea Chaparro as well as the male leads Andrés Baída and Louis David Horné.

There is no news yet on when the second season of the show will go into production. The first season is currently streaming on Max. Symbol paragraph end
