Chrissy Teigen googles a song on John Legend’s show only to find out it’s by him

Chrissy Teigen didn’t do her homework before her husband’s celebratory concert.

In an Instagram post shared on Thursday, December 5, the 39-year-old cookbook author shared that she was curious about one of his musical numbers after attending John Legend’s Christmas show.

“When John’s Christmas show comes to your town, you have to go,” she began. “I went in completely blind and oh, it’s just so sweet.” She wrote that his setlist included lots of classic songs, a slow dance with a fan (which jokingly made her jealous 15 years ago) and “lots of holiday cheer.”

“He actually did a song that I liked so much that I googled who sang it since he does a few covers too,” she continued. “It turns out he is. Whoopsie”

Her Instagram post included a screenshot of Teigen searching for the original singer of “When We Fly” – a song that, despite her initial doubts, she happens to know very well.

Teigen added that she hadn’t gotten around to “reading the entire children’s album” at this point, referring to “Legend’s.” My favorite dreamwhich came out in August. But she called it “so so beautiful” as she listened, which she “does all day.”

The 45-year-old singer exclusively announced the John Legend Christmas Tour with PEOPLE in October. The live shows with a four-piece band will stop all over the USA in December.

“My hope for these shows is that they feel like a gathering of friends around the fireplace – where the music brings warmth, joy and a sense of togetherness,” the EGOT winner said at the time.

“Over the years, I’ve experienced the holidays in so many ways, and each version of me – from my childhood to now as a father – has shaped the way I approach this season,” he continued.

Legend added: “I want to share this journey with audiences through songs and stories that celebrate both the festive spirit and the moments that bring us closer. I hope people leave feeling like they were part of something warm, familiar and special.”
