9 new movies and series to watch this weekend on Netflix, Max and more (November 29th - December 1st)

‘Tis the season for holiday romances and Oscar contenders among the new movies and TV shows you can watch this weekend on Netflix, Max, and other top streaming services. For now, you can check out all of these picks for less with heavily discounted Black Friday streaming deals.

The mystery thriller “Conclave,” which has a 92% on Rotten Tomatoes, is available on premium video-on-demand sites so you can follow the political intrigue of a papal election through your favorite streaming retailer. In addition, three comedies exude festive spirit: “Our Little Secret” with Lindsay Lohan and “Sweethearts” with Kiernan Shipka and “Nutcracker” with Ben Stiller.

On TV, spy drama The Agency and conspiracy thriller The Madness will keep you on the edge of your seat. Here’s our guide to what to watch this weekend.

This conspiracy thriller stars Colman Domingo as media expert Muncie Daniels, who is looking for a new direction and takes a break from work in the Poconos to write the great American novel. There, Muncie stumbles upon the murder of a known white supremacist – and is then accused of the crime. Forced to go on the run to clear his name, he connects with estranged family members and finds unlikely allies in the fight against disinformation in a post-truth world.

The success of ABC’s “The Golden Bachelor” naturally attracts imitators. The Netflix version follows singles in their 50s, 60s and 70s as they try to get a second (or third…or fourth) chance at love. Six baby boomers – some of whom haven’t been in a relationship in over a decade – go on a series of blind dates with potential partners of the same age. They get help navigating the modern dating landscape from their children, friends and dating coach Logan Ury. She encourages singles to set realistic dating goals and expectations while enjoying the unexpected, joyful moments that come with meeting new people.

Yes, chef! Once again, the Food Porn show returns to highlight culinary masters around the world who are redefining today’s food landscape. The seventh season lineup includes Nok Suntaranon of Philadelphia, who cooks Southern Thai cuisine; New York City standout “Top Chef” Kwame Onwuachi cooks Afro-Caribbean cuisine; The Spaniard Ángel León cooks seafood; and married chefs Norma Listman and Saqib Keval from Mexico City, who cook Mexican and South Asian fusion cuisine.

If you’ve never heard of “Drunksgiving” – also known as “Drinksgiving” or “Blackout Wednesday” – it’s the night before Thanksgiving when everyone returns to their hometown and reunites with their old friends during the, uh , drinks flow. This is the setting for this Christmas comedy about best friends Jamie (Kiernan Shipka) and Ben (Nico Hiraga), who attend the same college and are still with their high school friends. They’re tired of holding back in their college scene, so they decide to break up with their respective partners at Drunksgiving, which turns into a messy and chaotic night.

The Beatles madness is coming back to Disney Plus. Following the success of Peter Jackson’s “The Beatles: Get Back,” a new documentary from director David Tedeschi and producer Martin Scorsese documents the Fab Four’s cultural impact on the United States, beginning with their first visit to the country in February 1964. Featuring archival footage by David and Albert Maysles, the documentary captures the sheer chaos that reigns from the Beatles’ arrival at the newly named John F. Kennedy Airport to their iconic appearance on “The Ed Sullivan Show” and their trip to Washington, DC and Miami, accompanied by screaming fans.

This Christmas comedy mixes a number of tropes: the workaholic city slicker stuck in the sticks; orphaned children in need of a home; these children are misbehaving; a devout small-town social worker; and accidentally destroy a nativity scene. Ben Stiller plays Mike, who travels to rural Ohio to look after his recently orphaned, very rambunctious nephews. As social worker Gretchen (Linda Cardellini) assures him, he only has to be there until Christmas until she finds a foster family for her. Crazy shenanigans and shenanigans ensue, but (shockingly) Mike finds his ice-cold heart thawing.
