Chuck Norris announces the death of his mother, Wilma Norris Knight, at the age of 103

Chuck Norris is mourning the loss of his “wonderful” mother Wilma Norris Knight, who has died aged 103.

The 84-year-old actor and martial artist announced the news of his mother’s death in an emotional Instagram post on Friday, December 6, sharing a carousel of photos of them over the years.

“On Wednesday morning my brother Aaron’s wonderful mother and I went home to be with Jesus,” Chuck, 84, began his caption.

He further described Wilma as “a woman of unwavering faith and “a beacon of light in our lives,” saying that “her love reflected the grace of God.”

Chuck is the eldest of three brothers, born to Wilma (née Scarberry) and Ray Norris. In addition to Aaron, he had another younger brother, Wieland Norris, who died at the age of 26 during his military service in the Vietnam War.

“As we grew up, her laughter filled our home with joy and her hugs gave us a sense of security that we will treasure forever,” Chuck continued of his mother.

The proud son told his followers that Wilma “had a remarkable way of making everyone feel special, often putting the needs of others ahead of her own.”

“From my earliest memories, she taught me the importance of kindness and compassion. “I am so grateful for the countless lessons she shared with us, the prayers she said for us, and the way she embodied the love of Christ every day,” he continued.

Back in May 2021, Chuck celebrated Wilma turning “100 years young,” writing in an essay that the Wilson, Oklahoma native “had a very difficult first half of her life” as she “grew up in abject poverty “ and “gifted” was gone as a ward of the state when she was only 8 years old.

“She was treated for a rare disease for two years and lived away from her family in a children’s hospital,” he added. “When she returned healthy a few years later, she experienced the Great Depression.”

Chuck went on to praise his mother’s “perseverance and faith” throughout her life, including the deaths of many family members, “recurrent bouts with cancer” and “around 30 different surgeries for a variety of problems – and yet she still is. “Here to tell you about it.

“Mom, I don’t know what’s harder to believe: that you’re 100 years old or that you have an 81-year-old son!” he added at the time. “Still, I am so grateful that you are my mother, and the same goes for brother Aaron. We’ve always been that way. We’ve been through thick and thin in this life, and we’re still going strong – a little rusty, but still going. !”
