Bluesky reaches milestone of 25 million users

Bluesky, the emerging social media platform, reached the important milestone of 25 million users early Friday morning.

The site continues to benefit from people looking for an alternative to X (formerly Twitter), with Bluesky seeing phenomenal growth since Election Day. According to a Nov. 13 post from Bluesky CEO Jay Graber, the site had 6 million users at the end of August, nearly 11 million at the end of October, and reached 15 million users on Nov. 15. Bluesky launched in February 2023 as an invite-only social media platform. The site fully opened to the public in February of this year and ran until the second half of 2024, with the presidential election and the resulting toxicity of X, turbocharging sign-ups. Bluesky was originally founded in 2019 by then Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey. Dorsey separated from Bluesky in 2022.
